Pip pip! Cheerio!...and all that sort of thing.

Due to unexpected and surprising circumstances* we have had house guests this last week.
And not just your garden variety house guests either, but a couple of real-honest-to-goodness-Brits! Who said things like "Have a cuppa Barney?" and "Thank you, I'll just have a topper Claire". Kent and I couldn't believe our luck because they were friendly, hilarious, and game loving to boot.

We swapped lots of fun facts, history, politics, traditions, and colloquialisms.  We taught them that teddy bears were named after Teddy Roosevelt along with "That's what she said", and they taught us Whist and that a Trump is another word for fart. Brilliant!

It seemed like a week long tea party to us**. But as they had to move on to their next destination it's back to the day to day grind. Boo.
I've got piles of work to do to keep me busy at any rate. One little project should be making it's way here before long, and we are in the final stages of Walter Halloween Costumes 2010.

*The short story being that our friend Leslie planned on having her cousin Claire and Claire's boyfriend Barney stay with them for the week, but after one night Claire was proved deathly allergic to cats and we were happily the nearest cat-free accommodation.

** I got to use my tea set from my Alice in Wonderland days and learned how to make a "proper brew".  Then joy of all joys they bought me a toast rack! For it was on my must find list and leave it to the resourceful English to find one in Kirkland. It is now the crowning jewel of my tea service.
