The Olympic Peninsula

Over labor day weekend we packed up the car and made our way up to the Olympic Peninsula with some of our good friends, who are freshly moved from Virginia.  I was so excited to share with them the amazing beauty of their new home state.
We went to Lake Crescent, Second Beach, and did a little hike up to the Sol Duc Falls in the Olympic National Forest. While we spent the mornings and evenings at my grandpa's house in Port Angeles, as our home base.
I think Greta's highlight was the beach! She rolled in the sand, made sand angels, and frisked in the freezing cold water, all to her hearts delight. It was her happy place, and she was nearly impossible to reach all afternoon long.
Oliver's favorite seemed to be the hike. Kent let him walk along with him for most of it (bless him), so he got to amble,  jump off of logs and roots, and really had a thorough explore. Just the way he likes.
It was so great to see the kids enjoy nature from the tops of their sandy heads to the bottom of their muddy shoes! I have happy memories of doing the same as them in all of these dear places.
Hiking to the falls with my grandma and cousin Sarah, and numerous trips to second beach with the whole clan.
Adding dear friends and my own sweet babies to these memories made this weekend truly special.
